The skyscale is a mount and mounts are generally easy to get, excepting the hidden griffon. You can't blame people for expecting the skyscale to be more akin to the roller beetle in unlocking. And I think people are fine with a longer unlocking process, it's just that they really didn't expect it.

It took me about 2 months to get the skyscale, which is a long time compared to some other players, especially when you consider I did almost nothing else when I was online because for me a dragon mount is an absolute must-have so any other goals I had were put on hold until I got it.
